The St. Petersburg Pelicans are a premier youth travel baseball and softball organization serving St. Petersburg and the greater Tampa Bay area. Built on a strong family atmosphere and a commitment to long-term player development, the Pelicans prepare athletes to compete at a high level while building the skills, confidence, and character needed for future success.
About Us
The St. Petersburg Pelicans are a youth travel baseball and softball organization serving families throughout St. Petersburg and the Tampa Bay area. We believe player development is the foundation of long-term success, and our program is designed to challenge athletes while supporting them every step of the way.
On the baseball side, the Pelicans currently field two 10U teams, two 11U teams, and teams at the 12U, 13U, and 14U levels. Our softball program currently fields a 10U team, with plans to expand into additional age groups in the years to come.
We are more than a travel organization; we are a community. The Pelicans emphasize fundamentals, work ethic, accountability, and respect for the game. Our goal is to help athletes grow as players, teammates, and individuals while preparing them for the next stage of their baseball or softball journey.
Baseball Program
Overview
St. Petersburg Pelicans Baseball is a competitive youth travel baseball program focused on long-term player development. Serving players across St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay, our baseball teams compete at a high level while maintaining a clear and consistent development pathway.
The Pelicans currently field multiple baseball teams, including two 10U teams, two 11U teams, and teams at the 12U, 13U, and 14U levels. This structure allows players to grow within the organization while competing in an environment that matches their stage of development.
Our baseball program emphasizes fundamentals, proper mechanics, situational awareness, and mental toughness. Practices are intentional and game-focused, helping players build confidence and prepare middle school, high school and college competition.
Softball Program
Overview
St. Petersburg Lady Pelicans Softball is a growing youth travel softball program built on the same development-first philosophy as our baseball teams. Designed for athletes seeking quality instruction and competitive opportunities, Lady Pelicans Softball provides a strong foundation in fundamentals, teamwork, and confidence.
The program currently fields a 10U softball team, with plans to expand into additional age divisions as the organization continues to grow. Our focus remains on structured training, experienced coaching, and creating a positive environment where athletes can thrive.
Lady Pelicans Softball prepares players for continued success in travel softball while laying the groundwork for future school-based and advanced competition.

Pelicans Nest
The Nest offers comprehensive baseball and softball training services designed for athletes of all ages and experience levels; from youth players just learning the fundamentals to college-level athletes refining advanced skills. Our programs are built to meet players where they are and help them progress with purpose.
Led by Coach Diggs and Coach Meier, training at The Nest emphasizes proven instruction, attention to detail, and a professional environment that supports serious development. Lessons and programs are open to all athletes, not just the Pelicans players.

Director of Operations
Coach Diggs, a California native, brings a wealth of experience and passion to the St. Pete Pelicans. His coaching journey includes leading the 12U So Cal Dodgers Cooperstown team in 2021, mentoring players with the FBH Miracles/Angels in 2023, and currently serving as a coach at Shorecrest Preparatory School. With a dedication to player development and a focus on fostering both skill and character, Coach Diggs is an integral part of cultivating the next generation of outstanding athletes.
Robbie Meier
Head Coach 13u
A proud St. Pete native, Coach Robbie has a lifelong connection to the game of baseball and his community. As a talented catcher, he honed his skills to become a bullpen catcher for the Phillies, where he learned from great mentors, including Ray Burris. Today, Coach Robbie continues to share his passion and expertise by working alongside the St. Pete Pelicans, instilling accountability and leadership in young ballplayers. His dedication to fostering a culture of excellence and community pride makes him an invaluable part of the Pelicans’ journey.
JT Lund
Head Coach 12u
Coach JT is a dedicated young coach in the world of baseball coaching, entering his second season with the St. Pete Pelicans. Known for his ability to keep players mentally focused and composed, Coach JT emphasizes mindfulness in their approach to the game. His positive influence and dedication to player development have made him a vital part of the Pelican program, helping young athletes stay confident and perform at their best.
